What’s New!
Streamline Test Creation with Macros
- Macros have been introduced to provide users with a powerful no-code option for test creation. With the ability to employ prebuilt SQL or Python macro scripts, adjusted via parameters, users can streamline their test-building process significantly.
- Benefit: Macros empower users to quickly connect to data without writing code by enabling the reuse of predefined scripts with adjustable parameters, users can save time, enhance test consistency, and ensure accuracy across their testing processes. Validatar gives users visibility into the underlying macro script and offers the option to convert any macro into a customizable script for a given test.
Gain Insights with Test Result Status
- The introduction of the Test Status visual element on tests offers users a comprehensive view of a test's performance history. It enables users to discern patterns in test behavior, including consistent passing, failing, encountering errors, or transitioning between states.
- Benefit: Understanding the behavior patterns of tests is essential for effective troubleshooting and performance analysis. The Test Status badge equips users with insights, allowing them to identify trends, diagnose issues promptly, and optimize test execution strategies.
Enhanced Reporting Depth: Table & Column Data Sets
- Users now have access to an expanded range of data sets for reporting which include profile, technical, and custom metadata values for Tables and Columns.
- Benefit: Enhanced reporting capabilities empower users to derive deeper insights into their data assets and quickly see profile values without having to navigate to that metadata object. Users can generate more comprehensive and customized reports, facilitating better decision-making, performance evaluation, and compliance management.
Effortless Snowflake Repository Replication
- This update introduces seamless replication capabilities of your metadata and test repository tables to your Snowflake account.
- Benefit: Additional analytics or reporting requirements can now be sourced from your own Snowflake account with your selected visualization and analytics platform.
Highlighted Enhancements
- Enhanced functionality now recommends metadata links within tests.
- The default Data Source Templates (Snowflake, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) are updated with nine initial macros.
Bug Fixes
- Corrected a bug where there was a misleading display of percent differences in the test results section. Plain numbers are now accurately converted to percentages, ensuring precise representation of data.
- Fixed a bug that prevented template tests from saving when the context in the handlebar scripts included null values for string arguments.
