What’s Coming!
Catalog Test Wizard
A new Test Wizard available in the Catalog provides an easy way to add a table or column to an existing template test without having to switch over to the full test detail page in the Projects area. You have full control over which template tests are included in the Test Wizard.
For each table or column added to a template test, you have the option of setting custom field values or overriding template test variables.
You can also execute and schedule tests directly from the new Test Wizard.
Maintain Catalog Context
When viewing a list of tests in the Catalog, you can now open test details or the latest test execution results in a dialog directly in the Catalog. Simply close the modal to return to your prior context within the Catalog.
Snowflake Key-Pair Authentication
Validatar now supports key-pair authentication for every Snowflake data source, not just data sources using the Snowflake engine. With Snowflake scheduled to start blocking password-only authentication in November 2025, this feature now allows you to migrate your Snowflake data sources to use key-pair authentication ahead of Snowflake’s deadline.
The following link provides more information on how to migrate your Snowflake data sources to use key-pair authentication: Migrating Snowflake Authentication
New Metadata Link Custom Field Types
Validatar now includes two new types of custom fields: Table Metadata Reference and Column Metadata Reference. Now you can link any catalog-level or project-level object with one or more related metadata objects.
Other Highlighted Enhancements
Added option to include schedule information when exporting and importing jobs.
Introduced new template test Handlebars functions to support arrays.
Added new stale indicators to the Overall Status for tests. When a test hasn’t been run within the trust score look-back period, it transitions to the respective stale status.
Added new Trust Score columns to the table reporting dataset.
Enhanced single-sign-on (SSO) functionality to optionally support identity-initiated logins.
Updated the list of default catalog custom fields.
Updated the Snowflake Quick Project template to use new variable functionality.
Added new API endpoints to retrieve trust score information at the data source, schema, or table level.
Added new API endpoints to retrieve test execution results at the summary or record detail level.
Added additional user and ingestion events for auditing purposes.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an error when importing large custom field values (> 8000 characters).
Fixed how the Snowflake engine processes date comparison as well as how it handles numeric-to-string conversion and numeric overflows.
Fixed an issue where testing a Python data source connection didn’t process variables correctly.
Added additional validation to template tests to avoid input errors.
Fixed issue that did not allow materializing a template test when it would delete all child tests.
Corrected project import when the file contains invalid metadata links.
Fixed session timeout issue when manually starting long-running jobs.
